Hi Beachside buoys and gulls! (nautical reference intended)
I hope that you are all taking the opportunity this summer to study along in Pastor Chuck Smith's book... "Why Grace Changes Everything."
I was reading in chapter 9 of the book today and came across this verse from the book of Galatians...here is what it says;
"If ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another."
Take a look at this verse and think on it for a while. What does Paul mean by this? I can't remember the last time that I went to church and was concerned about being bitten or devoured by a hungry junior high student! I have been "grilled" by some of you with your great insights and deep questions...but as far as I know, I haven't been on the menu yet, so to speak. So what does this mean? Have you ever been bitten, devoured, or consumed by another...or at least felt that way? It's certainly something to think about...and talk about...and post right here about. Let's all figure this out. In the mean time...all this talk of consuming has made be hungry, so...pizza it is! Hope to see you all again soon. Blessings friends!

Solve this Riddle...
You walk into a room and there on the bed are two dogs, four cats, one giraffe, five cows and a duck, three chickens flying above a chair...how many legs are on the floor?
I have been reading a lot lately about behavior...especially and particularly as it applies to me; Marty the Christ-follower. It got me to thinking deeply about the things in life that I look to and sacrifice for in the pursuit of personal Peace and Happiness. Then I ran into this quote from C. S. Lewis in his book, "Mere Christianity."
Quote: “God cannot give us a happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing.”
Mere Christianity (1952)
What do you think about this quote? We all spend time and energy in one way or another to find Happiness and Peace in our lives...that's for certain. We work, study, pray, seek, train, exercise, ask, bargain, search...but often, (and I'm finding this to be truth more and more as I go through life) any kind of Peace and Happiness that the world has to offer can be very hard to find; and even harder to hold on to.
C. S. Lewis offers this...that there is really no such thing as peace and Happiness...apart from God Himself. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this! What are some of the ways that you, or others, seek peace and happiness? Can they really be found apart from God Himself? And what is it about God...that makes these possible only through a relationship with Him? Blessings my young friends! What say you?
