Hi Beachside JH friends!  Let's do something cool together! Ready??? Let's all read
1 Thessalonians chapter 5, verses 1-11. And then...let's talk about what it says, and how we respond to the message here. Focus in on a few topics in particular;
...times and epochs V.1
...the day of the Lord V.2
...thief in the night V.2
...sons of light, sons of the day V.5
...alert and sober V.6
...faith, love, salvation V.8
...not destined for wrath V.9
...together with Him V.10
encourage, build up V.11

OK...there is our assignment. Read through and ask God to enlighten your mind to understand what He has recorded here for us in His word. Then let us all share what we are learning and understanding as we seek His truth.
looking forward to hearing what you all have to say about this awesome chapter in
1 Thessalonians. Blessings friends!!!

redeemed!!!

Forasmuch as you know that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
1 Peter 1:18-19

So Beachside guys and girls; Check out what other Bible authors have to say about this "redemption" that we have received!
"Redeemed" comes from the Greek word "lutroo." This means to set free, buy back, or ransom. So we are to understand that God has literally "bought us back!"
1. Check out Hebrews 9:12....How did God buy us back? What was the cost of our redemption?

2. And just what were we redeemed from anyway??? The Greek word "exagorazo" means to "buy up from a slave market." Slaves??? What's that have to do with us?
              (Hint...see John 8:34 and Galatians 3:13)
The Greek word "apolutrosis" means "to ransom in full." That makes it sound like that's all there is to it and that the blood of Christ takes care of the sin problem and the resulting separation from God completely. If you read the "fine print" of the Bible...

3. What does it say about "apolutrosis," ransomed in full???
(Hint; see John 19:30 and Ephesians 1:7)

Post your comments here for all to see and discuss. Blessings friends!

Hi Beachside brothers and sisters! In Romans, Paul writes....
Do this, knowing the time, that it is already the hour for you to awaken from sleep; for now salvation is nearer to us than when we believed. The night is almost gone, and the day is near. Therefore let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.
Roman 13:11-12
1. What's he mean, "awaken from sleep?" I'm not sleeping right now...are you?
2. How is our salvation nearer to us now than when we first became believers?
3. And just what are these "deeds of darkness" he writes and warns about?
4. "Armor of light!" What's that all about...and how do I get me one???
Let's read your answers here! I know you have some great insights and comments just waiting to burst forth!
Blessings!

why   grace   changes   everything

Well...we have spent the summer as a church going through Pastor Chuck Smith's book; "Why Grace Changes Everything." I hope that all of you had the opportunity to study along......in a small home group, at Beachside on Wednesday nights, or at home with your family. I have read this book a couple of times over the years, and studying it with friends and family was a real sweet blessing for me! I hope that it was for you as well. If you didn't get a chance to read and study the book, and you would like a copy of your own...see Marty, Mark, or Pastor Jeff and we will make sure to get you your own copy.
In the last chapter of this book, we read this...
YOUR ONE DUTY
God has given you but one responsibility: to believe in His promise.

Think about this. Stack this claim up against all that you know about God and His Word.
........Do you agree with it?
........Do you believe this to be a Biblical truth?
........What PROMISE is Pastor Chuck writing about?
........What does it mean to you and your journey through this life with Jesus?
........How does this truth change your thinking, prayers, faith, life?
Share your thoughts with us here.
Blessings Beachside Your friends and family! God is good!
