Hi Beachside Youth guys and gals!
I hope that you were all able to, in some way, participate in the National Day of Prayer. As I watched the presidential proclamation today, I was moved again to continue seeking the healing and deep transformation for our country that only the God of the Bible can give. As I watched and listened to the many invitees offer prayers for America and the world, I was struck with the question..."To Whom or What...are they praying?"
-Hindu Americans acknowledge multitudes of gods and goddesses...
-Buddhists say that there is no God...only multiple rebirths offering the hope of getting it better in the next life.
-Followers of New Age Spiritualism believe that they are God.
-Muslims pray to an all-powerful god...who cannot be known.
-Catholic believers pray to the virgin Mary and to dead saints.
...So I guess for me that brings up the question..."What's all of this prayer really about anyway?"
The Bible states in 1 Timothy 2:5, that there is...
"One God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus."
So if there is One God...and only One Mediator (a go-between) between God and us...then who or what are these people praying??? And what is the desired outcome of these prayers?
What do you think about this???
Think it through! Ask questions! Seek wise counsel! Search the Scriptures! Study!
Are all prayers effective? Do they all make any difference? Do YOUR prayers make a difference? Why?
